📌 What Is a Business Category / Principal Activity in FBR?

When a taxpayer (individual, AOP, or company) registers with the FBR, one of the key fields in their profile is the Business Category / Principal Business Activity — this defines what type of economic activity the taxpayer is engaged in (e.g., trading, services, manufacturing, freelancing). This choice determines:

✅ How taxes are calculated
✅ Which returns must be filed
✅ Whether sales tax registration is required

This classification is recorded against your NTN (National Tax Number). Federal Board of Revenue
